Audio Sushi
I was at a girlfriend's house the other night thinking about what music I was going to play on my stall at Spirit of Christmas – and I found myself asking her the name of almost every track on the CD she was playing.
And that was when she let me in on the secret of Audio Sushi , which aside from being a great name is also a great idea - a kind of personal shopping service for your music.
This is how it works. First, you have a consultation in which you tell them what kind of music you like and what you want it for – ie relaxation, party etc.
They then send you a number of samples, which you listen to and report back on which ones you like.
And they use the information to load your iPod with or compile a CD of songs that they think you'll like and will suit the particular occasion.
I paid £180 for the Bento Box – a one-hour consultation and four hours of music. It's not cheap, but I think it was worth every penny because I absolutely love the music they selected for me (most of which I had never heard before).
So, as well as getting a great CD, which those of you who have visited our stall will have heard, I have got introduced to lots of new artists. The only problem is the service is very more-ish.
A bit like sushi, I guess.
